Why did my cut land in the wrong place?
A fast trim can only cut at a keyframe, which video files typically place every one to ten seconds. If the cut has to be exactly where you put it, choose the exact option — it re-encodes the clip so the boundary falls on the frame you picked.
Does trimming lose quality?
A fast trim does not — it copies the original streams through without re-encoding them. An exact trim re-encodes, which loses a little, though at the default quality it is hard to see.
